Burnley 0 v BORO 2

Nicky Bailey and Joe Bennett struck as Middlesbrough continued their unbeaten start to the season with a comfortable win at struggling Burnley.

Bailey struck early with a scratchy volley that had just enough power to defeat the unsighted Brian Jensen.

Jay Rodriguez had a shot blocked by Bailey and David Edgar missed from close range but Bennett secured the points for Boro after the break.

Bennett pounced with a sharp finish after a Marvin Emnes shot was blocked.

Clarets boss Eddie Howe immediately introduced new boy Junior Stanislas following his deadline-day move from West Ham, but the new signing could not fashion a dramatic comeback and Boro won at Turf Moor for the first time in 17 years.

Tony Mowbray's team have now won all three of their away fixtures in the Championship and sit third in the table.

Burnley have collected just five points from their opening five fixtures and have yet to win at Turf Moor.

Howe's team looked nervous in possession, with Kieran Trippier twice dispossessed under little or no pressure and Rodriguez failing to make the most of a promising late opening when a heavy touch allowed the opposition to clear.
